The Historic Ritz Theatre in downtown Malvern will soon bear a new marquee thanks to Malvern National Bank (MNB). The theatre, owned by Arkansas State University Three Rivers, is entering Phase II of an extensive restoration project that will return the theatre to its 1940s state.
Significant MNB contributions to the Ritz Theatre restoration project will fund the expense of the theatre’s marquee and blade sign. At a recent ASU System Board of Trustees meeting, a naming recognition was approved establishing the MNB Marquee on the Allen-Nix Auditorium of the Historic Ritz Theatre.
MNB and the Historic Ritz Theatre were both established in the 1930s, and both entities have had a long-standing presence in downtown Malvern. With the naming of the MNB Marquee, the history of these two establishments is still being written.
MNB Bank President Brent Black shared, “MNB is proud to be a part of the restoration of the Ritz Theatre. We appreciate the hard work of ASUTR to bring back this historic building for the Malvern Community, and we look forward to seeing the Ritz Theatre marquee light up Main Street once again.”
Dr. Steve Rook, Chancellor of Arkansas State University Three Rivers expressed his appreciation to the bank, “We are so grateful for Malvern National Bank’s generosity to ASU Three Rivers and the Ritz Theatre,” said Rook. “MNB has been a valued supporter of the College and the theatre for many years and we look forward to many more.”
